Terms of Use

1. Who these terms apply to

These terms apply to anyone who uses The Coalface Gym website or becomes a member. By using the site or signing up for a membership, you agree to these terms.

The Coalface Gym is located in Newcastle West, NSW, Australia. Questions? Email us at info@thecoalfacegym.com.

2. Memberships

We offer the following memberships:

Part-TimeThree training sessions and one recovery room session per week.

UnlimitedUnlimited training sessions, two recovery room sessions per week, and open gym access from 4am to 10pm daily.

4-Week TrialSame access as Unlimited. At the end of your four weeks, your membership automatically converts to an Unlimited membership so you're ready to keep going. If you'd rather stop, just email us at info@thecoalfacegym.com before your four weeks is up. That's it — no follow-up calls, no hard sell.

3. Payments

Memberships are billed as outlined at signup — either weekly or as a prepaid term.

Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We don't see or store your credit card details. Stripe's terms apply to the payment transaction itself; you can read them at stripe.com/au/legal.

4. Cancellation

Weekly memberships require two weeks' written notice to cancel. Email info@thecoalfacegym.com to cancel.

Prepaid memberships are paid upfront and are not refundable mid-term. If you're unsure about committing, use the trial first — that's what it's there for.

5. Pausing your membership

You can put your membership on hold. Here's how it works:

  • Email info@thecoalfacegym.com with at least one week's notice before your pause is due to start
  • You can pause for up to three months in total across a calendar year
  • Maximum of two pauses per year
  • Pauses can't be backdated

6. Liability and assumption of risk

Physical training carries inherent risks of injury. By becoming a member and using our facilities, you acknowledge those risks and accept responsibility for your own health and safety.

You agree to:

  • Consult a doctor before beginning a training programme if you have any existing health conditions
  • Follow all instructions given by Coalface Gym staff
  • Use equipment correctly and as directed
  • Not train if you're sick or injured in a way that could worsen with exercise

To the extent permitted by law, The Coalface Gym is not liable for any injury, loss, or damage that occurs during training or while using our facilities, except where caused by our own negligence.

Nothing in these terms is intended to exclude rights you have under Australian Consumer Law that cannot be excluded.

7. Your conduct

We expect everyone to train hard and treat the space and each other with respect. We reserve the right to cancel or suspend a membership without refund if a member acts in a way that's unsafe, disrespectful, or damaging to staff, other members, or the facility.

8. Age requirements

You must be 18 or older to hold a membership. If you're under 18, you'll need written consent from a parent or guardian before joining.

9. Changes to memberships or facilities

We may update membership inclusions, opening hours, or pricing from time to time. Where changes affect your membership, we'll give you reasonable notice.

10. Website use

The content on this website is for general information only. You may not copy, reproduce, or use any part of it without our permission.

We're not responsible for the content of any third-party websites we link to.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it was last updated.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
